I worked on all of the environment art for the indie visual novel, Survivors Hope. Below are some of my processes and finished pieces that are featured in the games.
This is my full process for one of the desert environments of the game. I sketched on paper then brought the sketch into a Photoshop-eques program called FireAlpaca. The team had previously decided on a color palette and we discussed the rough aesthetic we were looking for in rendering and I had a great time creating texture.
Much like the previous, this follows my process for some of the town locations along with a bonus finished piece that I was incredibly proud of. The town had a lot more angles and we discussed how much disrepair it was in, which I ran with to create unique compositions. The gates are one of the few places I was able to hide an easter egg of sorts, I hope you’re able to find it!
The town hall held by far the most extensive amount and complex compositions I was tasked with. I had a lot of fun messing with perspective as most of these scenes feature the protagonist feeling incredibly unbalanced and frantic. I must admit that these are probably my most researched pieces as the design lead was very particular with how they wanted the town hall to look and some changes were made closer to the deadline than I would have liked, but I loved making environments that I never even considered previously.
